Acupuncturists are trained and certified in Clean Needle Technique, which includes gas sterilized and prepackaged disposable needles, preventing transmission of blood-borne pathogens, disposal of contaminated waste, and other methods to ensure patient safety.

The World Health Organization has recognized acupuncture to be a gentle therapy even though minor side effects are possible, such as light-headedness. Any side effect should be discussed with your practitioner.
